Environmental Migrations

In the past few decades, the negative impacts of environmental crises and natural disasters have led to an increase in forced displacement in several regions in the world. Millions of people are displaced due to natural disasters such as floods, tropical storms, earthquakes, landslides, droughts, glaciers melting, and so on. Environmental migration research group as one of the research groups in the Iran Migration Observatory focuses on studying main trends of displacement caused by natural disasters and environmental degradations through conducting field researches in vulnerable regions in Iran. Due to increasing trends of climate change, this group aims to propose policies and strategies for dealing with natural disasters and its negative consequences such as displacements in national level.
