Abstract:
This book illustrates trends of international student and graduate mobility in the world and Iran which is a part of brain migration policy making plan conducted by Sharif Policy Research Institute. Since there is lack of specialized studies on student and graduate mobility in Iran, this book aims to provide the most up-to-date trends of international student mobility in the world and Iran. In addition, due to lack of international migration database in Iran, all data in this subject has been extracted from the latest available international reports. Although, international data are citable and comparable, but there is usually mismatch between national and international data in some countries.

Another challenge in the student migration subject is various data sources or in some cases contradictory data due to applying different methodologies or sources. By considering such challenges, in this book we have tried to investigate various sources and choose the most reliable data.
In order to provide an overview of international student mobility, in the first chapter of this book, we have presented global trends of student mobility briefly. Chapter 2 illustrates Iranian international student mobility trends in the world. Chapter 3 provides policies and plans for recruiting and retaining international students in some countries. The appendixes also provide useful information about definitions, indexing and measuring number of international migrants. Furthermore, in this section, we have focused on the number of Iranian international students in the U.S. and Canada.
